 JOHN MORRIS
John’s first show in 1998 came about
after a couple of off the cuff comments about him having a crack
at theatre. John followed through with the joke, and within a month
John was in the Chorus of Call Me Madam for the Newcastle Dramatic
Art Club.
Since then he has appeared in Several productions
for NDAC. These appearances include Chorus work in Old Time Music
Hall, ensemble work in Sing For Your Supper and the role of Charlie
in On Golden Pond.
In July 2002, John played the role of Miles
Gloriosus in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum for
Intimate Theatre Company with an extremely friendly cast.
His most recent, most challenging and most
satisfying role was as Annas in NDAC’s production of Jesus
Christ Superstar at the Civic Theatre. This role was challenging
vocally however after reassurances from Musical Director Craig Renshaw,
was very fulfilling. In addition to this, John fulfilled a wish
in being able to perform to an audience at the Civic Theatre.
John is a lifetime local who lives with
his partner and two children. He is also the brother of State Member
for Charlestown, Matthew Morris and John notes that maybe the only
real difference between theatre and politics is that ‘we rehearse
more often!’
